Recently, the team members from 3 Bulim projects attended JTC's Safety and Construction Quality Day 2023. Attendees included Deputy Managing Director Mr Liu Peng Cheng, QEHS Department Deputy General Manager Kwek Hai Chuan and Deputy Project Director Xue Jing Guo. The event was held at Jurong Town Hall and members from various JTC project teams came together for this session of learning as well as sharing. Around 500 participants turned up for the seminar.

The event started with an opening address by JTC CEO Mr Tan Boon Khai who stressed the importance of blending progress with workplace safety. He then went on to present awards to various contractors for their outstanding commitment and performance to workplace safety and health. For the year 2023, it happens to be the 2nd year in a row that the team from Bulim Infra (Phase 1) won the special mention award; and it also marks the 3rd year in a row that a site from CSCEC won a safety award from JTC.

Following the awards ceremony, the sharing sessions started with a presentation by Mr Silas Sng - Commissioner of Workplace Safety and Health, Ministry of Manpower. Mr Silas presented the key principles of the recently released Code of Practice on Chief Executives’ and Board of Directors’ WSH Duties. He followed up with some accounts from various management personnel who shared their thoughts on the new Code of Practice and how the right mindset and approach to the improvement of the company can be the driving force for a better workplace. Other guest speakers include management personnel from other contractors who focused on themes surrounding the psychology of workers at the site which can result in a stronger result for the team. 

Overall it was a fulfilling 3 hours which gave everyone a broader perspective on to work approach and strengthened our resolve and commitment to a worksite with safety as well as quality.
